Apprentices in Engineering

Magna Specialist Confectioners Ltd is a successful confectionary co-manufacturer based in Telford, supplying many of UK’s largest confectionery brand owners.

Due to expansion plans, we are looking to recruit talented individuals to join our engineering team, who could develop into senior engineers for the future.

Personal Requirements

1. Individuals will have the desire to be developed into multi skilled roles, but with a bias (electrical / mechanical);

2. Will have the ability to demonstrate a mix of pragmatic hands on engineering with excellent brains and analytical skills.

3. Will be able to demonstrate interest and experience of engineering already.

4. Will be expected to attend college on a day release basis, and will have own transport or be learning to drive;

5. Qualifications to date – GCSE with 5-7 grade 6+

(Requiring English, Maths, Science + others).

6. The Individuals will show

7. Hobbies and interests – should amongst other interests demonstrate knowledge and experience of engineering / technical matters, and practical examples of challenges and learning’s through those activities.

Magna will

1. Provide the highest levels of support and mentoring (this being provided by senior engineers within the company).

2. Give involvement


•Electrical / electronics / mechanical / fluid power design and installation;

•Reliability engineering;

•Machinery and process development, change management;

•CAD application;

•Continuous improvement / loss elimination techniques and approaches;

•Management skills to assist in planning, workload management.


•Gear box repair and refurbishment;

•Motors repairs and refurbishment;

•Machining skills;

•Electrical and electronics repair;

•Welding / fabrication.

3. Reviewing the individuals – internally and externally

•Work based logbooks;

•Phase testing;

•Planning of activities and review with the individuals

Year 2 8.56 per hour (Year 17582)

Year 3 10.07 per hour (Year 20684)

Year 4 11.84 per hour (Year 24319)
